There has been considerable controversy over the Governor making this proclomation. For an official press release from F.A.R.M. concerning this controversy click here. F.A.R.M. is the organization that requested the proclamation from the Governor to recognize their national event The Great American Meatout, which is held annually on the fist day of Spring.

Welcome to

There are so many reasons to enjoy plant-based (vegetarian) foods that it should surprise no one that more and more restaurants are also offering animal-free (vegan) meals on their menus.

One good reason for trying plant-based foods is that Michigan's Governor,
Jennifer M. Granholm,
has declared Saturday, March 20th to be Michigan Meatout Day. In the proclamation on the left, she states ďIn observance of this day, I encourage the residents of this state to choose not to eat meat. Eating a healthy diet can be fun. Explore the different recipes that can be created by using fresh ingredients and by having a sense of adventure.Ē Please remember to avoid eating meat on this day and share the Governorís message with your family, friends, co-workers, and your favorite restaurants. Download and print a copy of the proclamation and have your favorite restaurant post it in a conspicuous place.

We hope youíll find VegDetroit .com useful and your dining experiences delightful. Itís never been easier to savor vegetarian cuisine in the automotive capital of the world!
